After a recent survey on a Saturday completion here at Mellor, we asked all of the players (117) whether they used a distance measuring device (DMD).

62 out of the 117 players have indeed adopted this important technology, and are now gaining a noticeable advantage over the 52 players in the field that do not currently use one.

Sam's Birthday

A lot of you may know that it was Sam's 21st birthday last Thursday. He would just like to thank everyone for their kind messages and donations it was all very much appreciated. 

The MacMillan Longest Day Golf Challenge

As most you you will be aware, MacMillan cancer support encourage golfers to run a golf challenge every year in a bid to raise money to support cancer sufferers. Last year, the country raised £740,000 for this great cause, this was normally done by 4 golfers playing 4 rounds of golf in 1 day, on or around the longest day (June 21), and since then I have been thinking of trying something similar, but different.

So, my idea is to take the basic idea, and combine it with the latest technology in the Golf Studio and create a longest day of my own. To do this, I plan on playing all of the 15 championship courses on the simulator in 15 hours, with 15 different people, all paying £15 each which will all go to Macmillan.

However, I can't do this without your support, I need 15 players, 1 per hour from 7am to 10pm. I have a couple of proposed dates of Saturday, 20 or Friday, 26 June, if you would like to take part and can spare just one hour and £15 towards a great cause on either of the 2 above dates, please let me know and let's see if we can make a difference.
