Well after a week of snow and ice the course is finally back up and running. Hopefully there is no more snow and we can finally look forward to summer golf!
Have any of you been watching the golf in Dubai?
If you have I'm sure you will be feeling like me…….depressed because the pro's are in shirts and we're wrapped up in lots and lots of layers. With our new solution of the swing room in a few weeks whilst the rain is pouring and the temperatures are freezing you will have the option to play a championship course indoors! In the warmth, and no chance of getting wet! What more can you want apart from actually being over in Dubai!
Car Park Update
The council car park has now been completed and is back in use. The car park now looks neat and professional with proper line markings and a smooth surface. Along with the new clubhouse refurbishment upstairs it will be like a new club in a months time!
Just Have A Think?
With the season now in the horizon, there are a few things you should start checking.
First is the condition of your grips. Over winter, due to the harsh weather conditions and the gloves we use, your grips take a hard battering and become to get worn. It's like driving a car. If your tyres had no tread then you'd change them. This principle applies to golf. If your grips are worn you should change them too.
Players don't realise the importance of grips. I see grips that are so worn that there is an indentation from where their hands lie! You can see the difference in the image on the right. The grip is a key factor to hitting good golf shots. Any slight slip of the hand during the swing can alter the position of the clubface and send the shot offline.
If you are unsure whether your grips will need changing then pop them in and let us test them.
It's worth thinking about. I'm not trying to sell you any as there is still a month or so of this cold weather left, however it's something you should consider if they are more than a season old.
Signs of Worn Grips
Shine- the grips will start to glare and feel slippy
Feel smooth- if the grip is smooth and can easily rub your hand down it then it's a sign that there ready for a chance.
Rips/holes- if there are any tears or indentations on the grip can actually be illegal so definitely time for a change.
