9 Days to Go...
Not long to go now until our golf day next Friday and everything is looking good. The weather's nice, the course is better, and the day is all set to be a cracker.
Now I'm sure everyone is aware of the raffle in place and the auction board up in the shop? If not then the Golf Raffle with a prize table worth over £1000 is available in the shop for just £5 a strip, so next time you are at the club, make sure you drop in and get involved.
Today I have just been in touch with Jamie Donaldson and we have a special auction prize especially for the day. And I promise you it is not to be missed. I will be collecting it later this week, and I can't wait to see it. He also promised me another golf item off one of his fellow tour professionals.
This is just one of the many reasons to come up on Friday, 12 August, even if it's just for the evening to enjoy the auction. If you are not available then proxy bids are being taken for the evening, however these bids do not count towards the item donated by Jamie Donaldson.
We look forward to seeing you.
Bring on the Ryder Cup!
For scheduling reasons, the final Major of the season was on us pretty quickly at the weekend – but the 98th PGA Championship delivered a thrilling finale.
There was a danger that with events in New Jersey coming so soon after The Open at Royal Troon, the tournament wouldn’t have the same buzz, but eventual winner Jimmy Walker and defending champion Jason Day provided a dramatic ending to the Major season.
Day’s stunning approach to 18, which set up eagle put the pressure on Walker, but he held his nerve to capture his first Major title.
So, that’s that. Well, not quite, because we still have the Olympics to look forward to, and no matter what your opinion on that, it will be interesting to see how it pans out.
Then, it’s the big one! It’s less than two months to go until Team Europe takes on the US at Hazeltine National Golf Club. The Americans will have another new Major winner in their side after Walker’s recent triumph, and with Dustin Johnson claiming his first Major this year as well, things are shaping up nicely – it could well be a classic.
