Grip Goodness
So it's the time of year to get your game ready for your best season yet! So we want to help. The most common slip up most players make is with their equipment.
Firstly the grips
People who don't play often over winter and don't use their clubs. The grips wear and aren't as effective. Then on the other side of the scale, people who play over winter your grips wear 2 times faster due to the cold. This is because you grip the club harder. Therefore when it comes to the season your grips will be thin, slippery and costing you valuable shots.
Now we highly recommend a good set of grips ready for the season to help you get the most out of your game.
This weeks offer is:
WITH EVERY SET OF IRONS GRIPPED RECEIVE A FREE PUTTER GRIP WORTH £25 !
You wouldn't drive your car with no grip, so why swing a golf club. Just drop in and have a chat with us in the pro shop.
Did anyone see 24 hours in A&E recently, the one featuring the retired fireman hit in the face by a golf club?
For anyone without golf insurance, take note. The programme told the story of retired firefighter John Willoughby who was accidentally struck in the face by a golf club at Deangate Ridge golf course in Kent. John, 53, was hit so hard that the club snapped and he had to be given emergency treatment at the scene by Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance's doctor and paramedic. The golfer was put in an induced coma to prevent his brain from further injury before being flown by the charity helicopter to St George's Hospital in London following the incident in June. The programme shows the father-of-two arriving at the specialist neurological unit where he was sent straight for a CT scan with a suspected critical head injury.
John's wife, Allison, is filmed by his side throughout the ordeal. She said:"John was in the fire brigade for 32 years. He loved the adrenaline, the excitement of what was going to happen next. So much has happened to him, he went to the bombings in London, and he saw such horrific things. To him it's part of his job. He would put his life on the line to save someone. And then he goes off to play golf and this happens."
Many golfers assume an accident like that won't happen to them, but all golfers, regardless of ability, run the risk of injuring another person or themselves whilst out playing golf.
